Patna: Patna smart city project has roped in Rodic Consultants as a project management consultant to design, develop, manage and implement smart city projects in Patna under the Smart City Mission (SCM) by the Government of India.

The smart city project is a joint venture between Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Urban Development & Housing Department, Government of Bihar.

A senior official of PMC said that Rodic Consultants have presence pan India and would add great value to the smart city project. The total budget of the project is Rs 2,776.16 crore and is expected to be commissioned by May 2022.

Patna Smart City project will involve an estimated expenditure of over 2,776.16 crore, of this 930 crore will be provided by the Centre and the State government in equal amount. Additional to 465 crore, Government of Bihar bears expense of 2.50 crore for SPV (PSCL) registration. Another 982.31 crore will come from the convergence of Government of India schemes and Government of Bihar schemes and urban local bodies’ resources. The remaining 800.37 crore is likely to be raised under the PPP model. PSCL will also pool and access funds from other sources such as debts, user charges, taxes

The key areas of development of Patna city would be; public transport system, improvement in civic services including solid waste management and integration of civic services with technology.

The two-pronged development will take place over the area of 817.35 acres across Patna, with a focus on robust and resilient infrastructure, city decongestion, recreationally rejuvenating city, enhancement of economic & financial base, socially inclusive, aware & alert society and unique city identity.

Rodic Consultants will be responsible for the design development, bid process management, and construction supervision in the pursuit of creating a more liveable and sustainable Patna, the infrastructure consultancy firm said in a release.

“With expertise in the area, we are fully equipped to aid this mission through our strong competencies and commitment. We look forward to planning and managing this project, thereby contributing to the smart city mission. The Patna Smart City will feature modern-day infrastructure, robust civic services, and efficient public transport system and ensure holistic development of the entire region,” said Raj Kumar, CMD, Rodic Consultants.
