Agra: Agra Police has launched a cyber awareness campaign for the public in order to make them aware of the rising threats of cyber security. The campaign also helps them to familiarize with ways in which criminals commit fraud on the Internet.
The initiative, ‘Cyber Peace Jagrukta’ campaign, was launched by Agra Additional Director General (ADG) of Police Rajeev Krishna at a time when the city has seen a rise in the number of cybercrimes of late, wherein social media profiles of senior police officers were cloned and used to extract money from commoners.
According to Krishna, the campaign is aimed at making people aware of the threats of cyber crime and ways to avoid becoming victims of cyber fraud.
The police is coordinating with educational institutions, social organisations, trade unions, government officials and public personalities to have a widespread impact through the campaign.
The first step will be spreading awareness through video conferencing on ways to avoid being cheated on social media. Women and children are the easiest targets for cybercriminals and they will be informed on how to remain alert while using social media. This campaign aims at educating 30 lakh people of Agra zone on cybersecurity.
The campaign would run for one hour every day in the form of a live broadcast on the UP Police Agra Zone’s YouTube channel. The ADG Zone’s Twitter handle will also be broadcasting major updates about this initiative.
