Vinay Thakur has recently taken over as the MD of National Informatics Centre Services Inc (NICSI). In addition, he continues as the Additional Director-General of the Bhaskaracharya National Institute of Space Applications & Geo-Informatics (BiSAG-N). His responsibilities include providing the economic, scientific, technological social and cultural development of India by promoting the utilization of IT, Computer-Communication Networks, Informatics and others.
His academic qualifications include Bachelor in Engineering from Govt. Engineering College Jabalpur and Masters from Delhi College of Engineering in Computer Science.
Thakur has more than 20 years of experience in implementing IT and e-Governance Projects. He has implemented many e-Governance projects including Land Records Computerisation, NREGA workflow, Mobile based Fertilizer Monitoring System, and GIS platform among others. He has also been instrumental in designing the Government e-Market Place (GeM), Geographic Information System(GIS) for fast decision making in government.
