Ranchi: State-owned Coal India Limited (CIL) has forged an initial agreement with EdCIL (India) Ltd to launch an education initiative spanning 11 mining districts in Jharkhand. EdCIL (India) Ltd, a consultancy and project management firm, will collaborate with CIL on this project aligned with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
In an official statement released on Friday, the coal ministry announced, “CIL (Coal India Ltd) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EdCIL (India) Ltd for ‘digitising education in eleven districts of Jharkhand.'”
The project is slated for implementation across the 11 Jharkhand districts over the next three years, with an estimated cost of Rs 27.08 crore.
These districts include mining areas under three subsidiaries of CIL: Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL), Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL), and Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL). The initiative includes provisions for teacher training and a three-year maintenance plan for the installed equipment. CIL currently accounts for more than 80 per cent of India’s coal output.
