Gurugram: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) aims to achieve pothole-free arterial roads in Gurugram by the end of February, as revealed in a recent meeting with traffic police officials discussing road safety measures. Simultaneously, the ongoing project to install 111 smart traffic signals, costing Rs 12.5 crore, is in progress at various junctions.
The second phase of the project will cover 29 intersections in Sectors 58 to 115, enhancing vehicular movement in the city. GMDA CEO A Sreenivas emphasised the priority of road safety, directing officials to promptly identify and repair damaged road stretches.
Smart traffic signals utilise sensors to monitor real-time traffic conditions, collecting data on volume and speed, which is then transmitted to a central control system. Advanced algorithms analyse this data to dynamically adjust signal timings, optimising traffic flow and reducing congestion in response to changing conditions.
