Dehradun: IPS Arun Mohan Joshi has become the youngest Inspector General of Police (IG) in India. The 40-year-old officer, belonging to the 2006 batch, was appointed the IG in a ceremony officiated by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Joshi is taking charge from IPS officer Gaurav Rajput, who assumed the IG position at 41. He has previously served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Dehradun. Joshi was also one of the youngest IPS officers in the country at the age of 23.
Joshi has also served as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Vigilance and DIG of the Provincial Armed Constabulary/Anti-Terrorist Cell (PAC/ATC) in Uttarakhand.
