Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh has become the first Indian state to be Gnana Jyothi certified by public university. Under the Gnana Jyothi program, Anganwadi workers will undergo 120 days of training over three years to improve early education, with 40 days of training each year. The program will focus on laying a strong educational foundation, especially for young children.
Gnana Jyothi also supports visually impaired students by providing Braille textbooks from pre-primary to postgraduate levels and assisting economically disadvantaged parents in educating their disabled children. The organisation raises awareness about the challenges faced by the disabled community and distributes aids like canes and slates.
Additionally, the Samagra Shiksha initiative ensures that children with special needs from grades I to XII receive comprehensive support. In the 2018-19 financial year, over 21 lakh children with special needs were educated, with funding provided for 15,909 resource teachers and special educators. This reflects Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to inclusive education and tailored support for all children.
