New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is integrating with the DigiLocker platform to transform the management of service documents for IAF personnel, both current and retired. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the IAF and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
A ceremonial event was held at the Air Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan, on April 26, 2024. The collaboration will provide a secure and convenient digital access for the management of IAF’s critical personnel data. Following are the key highlights of the integration:
- IAF departments and divisions, with authorisation, will upload digital records, certificates, and essential documents to the national DigiLocker repository.
- Direct access to documents will be given to IAF officers, like the Certificate of Service (COS) and Service Book Officers (SBO), through their personal DigiLocker wallets.
- Various processes will be simplified within the IAF through this integration, like the digitisation of academic document verification for Agniveer Vayu recruitment.
The MoU was signed by Air Vice Marshal Philip Thomas, ACAS (PO), Indian Air Force, and Akash Tripathi, President & CEO, NeGD, MeitY. S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, stressed the importance of this initiative, calling it “a watershed moment in India’s digital transformation journey, catalysing governance through technological empowerment of citizens and the armed forces alike.”
