Bengaluru: NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) is set to launch its second demand-driven satellite mission with GSAT-N2, a Ka-band high-throughput communication satellite that is expected to improve in-flight connectivity and broadband services throughout the Indian region.
GSAT-N2 is designed to improve broadband services and in-flight connectivity (IFC) throughout India. The satellite aims to support a large subscriber base with small user terminals while significantly increasing system throughput thanks to its multi-beam architecture that allows frequency reuse.
The Government of India has announced a number of space sector reforms that align with NSIL’s demand-driven missions and allow the agency to work on projects that address user service needs. GSAT-24 successfully completed the initial mission in June 2022, with Tata Play ensuring that its onboard capacity was fully secured.
NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of the Government of India and under the Department of Space. It announced in January of this year that it planned to launch GSAT-N2 on a SpaceX Falcon 9 during the second quarter of 2024.
