New Delhi: The State Bank of India (SBI) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to incorporate SBIePay, the bank’s payment gateway, with the eMigrate portal. Neelesh Dwivedi, SBI’s General Manager (NW-I), and Bramha Kumar, MEA’s Joint Secretary (Overseas Employment and Protector General of Emigrants), signed the MoU at the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi.
According to the officials, this integration aims to give Indian migrant workers, recruiting brokers, and other portal users access to an extra Digital Payment Services. According to a statement released by the MEA, the agreement seeks to “further facilitate and enhance the ambit of safe and legal migration of Indian migrant workers.”
The eMigrate portal, launched in 2014, has made emigration for Indian workers to countries requiring emigration checks online and transparent. Through the Pravasi Bhartiya Bima Yojna, the portal facilitates safe, legal migration by connecting foreign employers with registered recruiting agents and insurance companies. According to the MEA statement, the portal also permits the voluntary registration of emigrants with ECNR (Emigration Check Not Required) category passports seeking employment abroad.
