New Delhi: The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has proposed Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, a managing director at State Bank of India (SBI), to take over as chairman of the board.
FSIB conducted interviews with three managing directors for the position of SBI chairman. Ashwini Kumar Tewari and Vinay M. Tonse were the other two MDs who participated in the interview, in addition to Setty. The FSIB, which is accountable for the appointment of senior administrators to public sector financial institutions, is led by Bhanu Pratap Sharma, a former secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, which is chaired by the prime minister, is now responsible for the ultimate approval of the recommendations. The current chairman, Dinesh Kumar Khara, is scheduled to retire on August 28, and the new chairman is anticipated to assume responsibility on the same day.
Shetty is the senior most of the three MDs who were interviewed for the position. Throughout his nearly 36-year tenure with the bank, he has been responsible for the supervision of a variety of critical verticals within the public sector bank.
