Kerela Appoints IAS K Vasuki as ‘State Foreign Secretary’; BJP calls the move unconstitutional

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has named senior IAS officer K Vasuki as the state’s ‘secretary in charge of matters relating external cooperation.’

In response to the Kerala government naming a ‘foreign secretary’ for the state, the BJP chastised chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan for what it called a ‘blatant overreach and violation of the Constitution.’ Earlier this week, the Kerala government has nominated K Vasuki, a senior IAS officer, as ‘secretary in charge of matters relating external cooperation.’

“Secretary (labor and skills) K Vasuki will be in charge of topics related to overseas cooperation. The official will coordinate and manage all matters in this respect and related thereto, in addition to the existing charges,” according to a state government directive.
