Mumbai: Mahagenco has successfully commissioned its Sakri-1 25MW solar power project in Dhule District, Maharashtra, marking a significant milestone in the state’s renewable energy expansion. With this new addition, Mahagenco’s total installed solar power capacity has reached 428MW.
The Sakri-1 project, constructed by M/s Godrej & Boyce on an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis, is part of a larger 70MW solar initiative at Shivajinagar, Sakri Taluka. The project occupies 52 hectares and was completed at a cost of ₹93.12 crores. It is expected to generate 45.09 million units of power annually with a capacity utilization factor (CUF) of 20.59 percent. The power generated from Sakri-1 will be sold in the open market.
This project is part of a broader effort to establish Sakri as a solar power hub for Mahagenco. The Sakri site already hosts a 125MW solar power project, operational for the past decade. Upon the completion of the Sakri-2 and Sakri-3 projects, with capacities of 25MW and 20MW respectively, Sakri’s total installed capacity will reach approximately 195MW, further solidifying its role in Maharashtra’s renewable energy landscape.
The commissioning of Sakri-1 also aligns with Mahagenco’s recent entry into the power trading sector. The company has already signed an agreement with SEZ Biotech Services Private Limited, Pune, to distribute 15MW of solar power starting from July 2024.
