Airtel Brings Mobile Network to High-Altitude Military Posts in Ladakh

New Delhi: Airtel, in partnership with the Indian Army, has rolled out mobile connectivity at some of Ladakh’s most remote military outposts, including Galwan and Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO). The company set up 17 mobile towers in strategic areas like Kargil, Siachen, and the Changthang region, offering network access at an altitude of 16,700 feet.

This move aims to improve communication for both soldiers and locals in these tough terrains. Earlier this year, Airtel had announced plans to boost its network across Ladakh, focusing on expanding coverage before the tourist season kicks in.

In addition to these installations, Airtel has also strengthened its network in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, adding more spectrum to enhance 4G and 5G services. The upgrade, involving new frequencies in the 2100 and 900 MHz bands, aims to provide better coverage and faster internet speeds, even inside buildings.

These efforts follow Airtel’s recent acquisition of new spectrum, allowing the company to streamline its services and reach previously inaccessible areas.
