Gandhinagar: The Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) has announced the launch of two major initiatives to transform India’s fintech sector- the GIFT International Fintech Institute (IFI) and the GIFT International Fintech Innovation Hub (IFIH). Supported by the Asian Development Bank, these programs aim to enhance GIFT City’s status as a global financial technology hub by fostering talent development, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
The GIFT IFI will offer specialized training programs starting in January 2025, led by a consortium comprising Ahmedabad University, IIT Gandhinagar, and the University of California, San Diego. These programs are tailored to meet global industry standards, equipping professionals with skills critical for the financial sector. Simultaneously, the GIFT IFIH, managed by Plug and Play, a leading accelerator, will provide startups with mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities, with a special emphasis on supporting women entrepreneurs and promoting diversity.
These initiatives aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry through applied research and foster an inclusive ecosystem for fintech innovation. Tapan Ray, Managing Director of GIFT City, emphasized the significance of these programs in strengthening India’s fintech leadership and boosting economic and technological advancements in financial services.
