Gurugram: Honeywell India’s philanthropic wing, Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), is collaborating with the Indian Institute of Science’s (IISc) FSID to back local deep science startups. The focus is on helping early-stage companies in areas like healthcare, agriculture, and renewable energy.
B Gurumoorthy, CEO of FSID, noted that funding is a major hurdle for deep science startups. He highlighted how Honeywell’s direct financial support helps sustain these projects in their early stages. Beyond funding, HHSIF also offers research assistance and connects startups with investors and small businesses.
Prashanth Balarama, senior director at Honeywell India, emphasized that this collaboration isn’t about commercial gain but about boosting innovation. One notable startup from the program, Translead MedTech, is developing products to assist elderly people with mobility issues, including a chair designed for those with joint problems.
