Hyderabad: Telangana will roll out its new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy under Government Order (GO) 41, aiming to tackle rising pollution levels and promote sustainable transportation. The policy offers registration fee exemptions for EVs and plans to boost charging infrastructure across the state.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the government is committed to improving air quality, especially in Hyderabad, which has seen growing pollution concerns. “We’re taking steps to address urban pollution, including introducing electric buses in the city,” he said.
The policy aims to make it easier for people and businesses to switch to EVs by offering incentives and developing the required infrastructure. Plans include setting up more charging stations and supporting manufacturers to increase EV production in the state.
Hyderabad, like many cities in India, faces increasing air pollution challenges, and the state government hopes these measures will encourage wider EV adoption. Electric buses are also set to become a part of Hyderabad’s public transport system soon, offering a cleaner and more efficient alternative.
Officials believe the policy will help reduce vehicle emissions, improve public health, and contribute to a greener environment. While the state works on implementing these changes, residents and businesses are being urged to consider EVs as a step toward sustainable mobility.
This policy marks Telangana’s push toward addressing environmental concerns through practical solutions for urban transport challenges. It also aligns with the government’s broader goals of promoting energy efficiency.
