New Delhi: In a major step towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in India, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce platform. The collaboration aims to support and empower tech startups across the country, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s Startup India program.

Boosting Startup Ecosystem
The partnership builds on Flipkart’s existing initiatives like Flipkart Leap and Flipkart Ventures, which includes a $100 million venture fund. Through these programs, Flipkart has already invested in 20 startups and remains committed to identifying and nurturing businesses with high growth potential.
Under the MoU, startups will gain access to industry reports, government research papers, datasets, and studies, providing invaluable resources for market research. Additionally, the collaboration promises to expedite patent applications, enabling startups to capitalize on timely opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, Startup India, highlighted that the MoU aligns with the government’s ambitious Startup India initiative. He remarked, “Startup India represents the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that drives our nation’s progress. This MoU will create synergy for a thriving environment, enabling startups to scale new heights.”
He further emphasized that the partnership would accelerate the transformation of innovative ideas into impactful solutions, thereby strengthening India’s position as a global hub for innovation.
