Vingroup Signs $3 billion MoU with Telangana to Explore Smart City, EV Mobility Projects

Telangana: Google has signed an agreement with the Telangana government to establish an AI accelerator in Hyderabad. The initiative aims to support startups and drive AI adoption in key sectors, including agriculture, mobility, education, sustainability, and governance. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the IT-Hub in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the state’s IT and Industries Minister.

Microsoft Expands Hyderabad Presence with AI and R&D Initiatives

The agreement comes shortly after Microsoft launched its largest R&D hub outside the United States in Hyderabad. The company’s new 11 lakh sq. ft facility will accommodate 2,500 additional employees. Rajiv Kumar, Managing Director and President of Microsoft India Development Centre, stated that the expansion would facilitate AI innovation and the development of next-generation products.

AI Training and Investment in Telangana

Microsoft has also launched three AI-focused training programs in collaboration with the Telangana government:

Additionally, Microsoft plans to set up an AI Centre of Excellence with cloud infrastructure and a centralized AI knowledge hub. The company has committed Rs 15,000 crore to expand AI data centers in the state.

Telangana’s Growing AI and Tech Investments

Telangana has been positioning itself as an AI and technology hub, securing multiple private investments. In January, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a Rs 60,000 crore investment in Hyderabad for data centers. Tillman Global Holdings and Blackstone have committed Rs 20,000 crore for similar projects.

Last year, the state signed 26 agreements with private firms to boost AI development. It is also developing a 200-acre AI City near Hyderabad as part of its goal to become a Rs 82 lakh crore ($1 trillion) economy.

With Google, Microsoft, and other tech giants increasing their presence, Hyderabad is emerging as a key AI and technology hub in India.
