New Delhi: The state-run Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) partnered with the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University, Rotterdam, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This renewed partnership aims to enhance training, research, and capacity-building efforts in human settlements and sustainable urban development.
HUDCO, a premier techno-financing institution under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), has been at the forefront of providing sustainable housing and infrastructure since its establishment in 1970. The agreement with IHS reinforces its commitment to innovation and excellence in urban development, contributing to the creation of more inclusive and resilient cities.
Through this collaboration, HUDCO and IHS will leverage their respective strengths to implement training programs, research initiatives, capacity-building activities, and fee-based consultancy services. These efforts will support better urban planning, sustainable construction, and improved access to affordable housing.
Apart from financing operations, HUDCO promotes the use of local building materials and cost-effective construction technologies to enhance living conditions across India. With its motto of ‘Profitability with Social Justice’, HUDCO continues to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable urbanization and improving housing accessibility for all.
