Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has launched an AI-driven Security Operations Centre (SOC) to strengthen cybersecurity within the state police.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the facility while unveiling a series of police infrastructure projects.

AI-Enabled SOC to Monitor Cyber Threats

The SOC, developed in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), aims to safeguard critical police databases, communication networks, and surveillance systems from cyberattacks.

It will function under the supervision of the Inspector General (IG) of Cyber Operations, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring, threat detection, and rapid response.

The initiative comes amid rising cyber threats targeting government infrastructure. By integrating AI-driven security measures, the SOC will help the Kerala Police detect vulnerabilities and prevent potential breaches.

Investment in Police Infrastructure

Alongside the SOC launch, CM Vijayan inaugurated 30 newly built police structures across various districts, developed at a cost of Rs 62.61 crore.

He also laid the foundation for six more police buildings to improve law enforcement facilities.

Concerns Over Youth Involvement in Crime

During the event, the Chief Minister raised concerns about the increasing involvement of young people in criminal activities.

He urged the police to conduct a scientific study to understand the trend and develop data-driven strategies to address the issue.

Recognizing Police Performance

The Chief Minister’s Trophy was awarded to the best-performing police stations at the event. Several senior officials, including MLA Antony Raju, state police chief Shaikh Darvesh Sahib and additional director generals of police (ADGPs) Manoj Abraham, H Venkatesh, and S Sreejith, were present.

The AI-enabled SOC marks a step toward modernizing Kerala’s law enforcement, reinforcing cyber resilience, and addressing digital security challenges in the police force.
