Kohima: The North East Center for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) has set up a Common Facility Center (CFC) in Kukidolong village in Chumukedima district to promote rural entrepreneurship.
This is part of a Farmers Mobilization and Awareness Program initiative launched on 18 March in Nihoto village in Dimapur district. Representatives from eight villages participated in this initiative under the PM-DevINE project.
The Consortium for Training, Research and Development, Guwahati and the Entrepreneurs Associate, Kohima jointly conducted the training session. There was special emphasis on best agricultural practices and the importance of supporting the CFC on community-wide benefits.
The best practices included converting banana pseudo-stem into marketable products, extracting banana fibre, producing nonwoven fibre, preparing organic liquid nutrients and manufacturing handmade paper.
However, the insights were provided by progressive farmer Kitoho S Rotokha and Kitoho Michael Swu of the State Agriculture Department.
