Kolkata: The West Bengal government is launching the Sahaj Saral portal to keep track of all financial transactions of panchayats to enhance transparency.
The Sahaj Saral portal services will be launched in end of April and will be much more state of the art than the portals used till date to maintain financial audits of gram panchayats, panchayat Samitis and Zilla parishads.
Till date the financial auditing of panchayat systems used to be run on two separate portals. The Gram Panchayat Management System portal was used for financial auditing of only Gram panchayats.
The Sahaj Saral portal was used to upload financial transactional details of panchayat Samitis and Zilla Parishad. From now on, the Sahaj Saral portal will be used to upload financial details of all three levels of panchayats.
The Sahaj Saral portal is an accounts based portal and it will help in an uniform accounting system across all three levels of panchayats. This will prove beneficial even during audits.
The Sahaj Saral portal has been launched in Malda district from 1 April. Workers in nearly 150 gram panchayats and 15 panchayat Samitis have already been trained on this in thr first phase.
In the second phase all workers of gram panchayats, panchayat Samitis and Zilla parishad belonging to Malda Sadar will.be trained. Finally workers from all 3 levels of panchayats from Chanchal will get trained.
