Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will celebrate the 77th Foundation Day of Bhubaneswar with a series of events combining tradition and festivity on 13 and 14 April.
These gala plans will commemorate the establishment of Bhubaneswar as Odisha’s capital on 13 April 1948.
The celebrations will commence with floral tributes at the foundation stone near the Odisha Legislative Assembly and flag hoisting.
College student groups and bands will march from Rabindranath Mandap to Jayadev Bhawan, leading into cultural performances at Utkal Mandap. Simultaneously, a photo exhibition highlighting Bhubaneswar’s heritage and traffic management initiatives will be on display
These celebrations were planned at a high level meeting chaired by Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg. Unlike previous years, the festivities were condensed to 2 days from 3 due to the prevailing heat wave.
These celebrations align with the Odia Paksha, a daily cultural program series from 1 to 14 April, culminating in ‘A Day for Odia Cuisine’ and the Odia New Year, both on 14 April.
