Kolkata: In a significant move to strengthen law enforcement across the state, the West Bengal government announced the transfer of six Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to new postings across various districts. The most notable change is the transfer of IPS Surya Pratap Yadav (2011 batch), who was serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Murshidabad. Yadav has now been appointed as the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Narayani Battalion in Cooch Behar.
Other key transfers include:
- IPS Ananda Roy (2011 batch), who moves from SP of Jangipur to CO of the 3rd Battalion, Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR) in Salua.Â
- IPS Angshuman Saha (2012 batch), previously CO of the Narayani Battalion, has been appointed as CO of the Special Security Force (SSF) in Barrackpore.
- IPS Ashish Maurya (2015 batch), earlier posted with the Intelligence Branch (IB) of West Bengal, has been transferred to Ranaghat as SP.Â
- IPS Kumar Sunny Raj (2017 batch), former SP of Ranaghat, will now serve as SP of Murshidabad.
- IPS Shaw Kumar Amit (2017 batch), Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police (South) in Kolkata, has been appointed SP of Jangipur.
The reshuffle is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance policing efficiency and improve security measures across the state.
