Kolkata: The Jute Corporation of India is partnering with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to enhance the production of superior quality jute.

Prediction about possible output is critical for the jute sector. But this information was clearly not available in the country to date.

Therefore, Jute Corporation of India, National Jute Board and NARC-ISRO have signed a tripartite agreement to give all information about jute production through national remote sensing centres.

All information, including losses of crops and crop insurance, will be made available to benefit both jute farmers as well as the industry.

This will enhance the production capacity of jute with Jute Corporation of India itself buying 5.05 lakh quintal jute from the farmers since July 2024.
