New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other aviation authorities have announced the temporary suspension of all civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India.
The closure, issued through a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), is in effect from 9 May to 14 May, with air travel services expected to resume at 0529 IST on 15 May.
The affected airports include:
Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu-Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise and Uttarlai.
All civil flight activities at these locations will remain suspended during the notified period due to operational reasons.
The NOTAMs have been coordinated with air traffic control units to ensure safety and minimise disruption.
In addition to airport closures, AAI has also restricted access to 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs).
As per NOTAM G0555/25, which supersedes an earlier notice (G0525/25), these route segments will remain unavailable from ground level to unlimited altitude until 2359 UTC on 14 May (0529 IST on 15 May).
Airlines and flight operators have been advised to plan alternative routings based on current air traffic advisories.
The AAI and relevant authorities are managing the situation in coordination with the Indian Air Force and ATC units to ensure continued safety and efficient handling of the airspace during the period of closure.
It should be noted that all these measures come amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
