Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has transferred 16 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in a key bureaucratic reshuffle, including changes in Deputy Commissioner (DC) roles across five districts – Hassan, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Bagalkot and Koppal.
The Karnataka government’s latest administrative move indicates an ongoing effort to reorganise leadership across districts and departments, with a focus on governance efficiency and departmental continuity.
New Deputy Commissioners Posted in Five Districts
The reshuffle saw district-level changes in key areas:
Hassan: Latha Kumari K.S. (IAS: 2012), previously CEO of Bengaluru Urban Zilla Panchayat, has replaced Sathyabhama C. (IAS: 2012), who has been moved as State Project Director, Samagra Shikshana Karnataka, Bengaluru.
Udupi: Swaroopa T.K. (IAS: 2012), who earlier served as Director, E-Governance in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, will now lead as DC.
Dakshina Kannada: Darshan H.V. (IAS: 2016), from the Commercial Taxes Department, replaces Mullai Muhilan M.P. (IAS: 2013), who has been appointed as Inspector General of Registration and Commissioner of Stamps in Bengaluru.
Bagalkot: Sangappa (IAS: 2016), who was on a waitlist, has been appointed as DC, replacing Janaki K.M. (IAS: 2012), now posted as Secretary, Karnataka Public Service Commission.
Koppal: Suresh B. Itnal (IAS: 2016), former CEO of Zilla Panchayat, Davanagere, has taken over from Nalini Atul (IAS: 2014), who moves to the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board in Kalaburagi.
Department-Level Shifts in Health, Education and Governance
Alongside DC appointments, several departmental changes were also announced:
Prakash G.T. Nittali (IAS: 2018) was named Director of Public Instruction for the Mid-Day Meals programme, a key education-linked nutrition scheme.
Dr. Avinash Menon Rajendran (IAS: 2013) transitioned from BBMP to become Mission Director, National Health Mission & Directorate of Health, Bengaluru.
Dr. Naveen Bhat Y. (IAS: 2017) will now serve as CEO, Zilla Panchayat, Chikkaballapur, after a tenure in the health department.
Garima Panwar (IAS: 2018) has been appointed Managing Director, Karnataka Handlooms Development Corporation.
Rahul Ratnam Pandey (IAS: 2018) has taken charge as Executive Director, Centre for Smart Governance, Bengaluru.
Varnit Negi (IAS: 2019) becomes CEO, Zilla Panchayat, Koppal.
Gitte Madhav Vitthal Rao (IAS: 2020) moves from rehabilitation work in Bagalkot to become CEO, Zilla Panchayat, Davanagere.
