New Delhi: The government of India has entrusted senior IAS Vinay Kumar with the additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).Â
A 1999-batch officer of the Bihar cadre, Kumar currently serves as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. His appointment as CVO was confirmed through an official memorandum, following a proposal from the ministry and subsequent approval by the Competent Authority. Kumar will hold the position for six months from the date of assuming charge, or until a regular CVO is appointed, or until further orders — whichever comes earlier.
This key appointment comes at a critical time, as the Government of India intensifies its focus on expanding and modernizing the national highway network through increased public-private partnerships and infrastructure investments. The CVO’s role is pivotal in maintaining transparency, ensuring compliance with anti-corruption policies, and upholding the integrity of NHAI operations.
Kumar’s dual role is expected to bring greater oversight and streamlined vigilance processes as the ministry undertakes high-value infrastructure projects across the country.
