New Delhi: The Ministry of Power has appointed Mahesh Kumar Sharma as Director (Finance) of NHPC Limited.
His appointment is for five years from the date he takes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier. NHPC Limited is a leading Navratna power company under the Government of India.
Before taking over this key role, Sharma served as the Finance Head of the Commercial Division at NHPC and as Chief Finance Officer of NHPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NHPC. He is also currently serving as a nominee director on the board of NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL).
A Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Sharma brings over 30 years of post-qualification experience in finance and accounts. He joined NHPC in July 2000 as an Accounts Officer. Over more than two decades, he gained wide experience across Finance, Corporate Accounts, Treasury, Commercial, and Contracts. He has been involved inthe financial management of major infrastructure projects and has developed a strong understanding of tariff and regulatory frameworks critical to hydroelectric project operations.
With his deep experience and leadership in financial strategy, regulatory compliance, and resource management, Sharma is expected to play a key role in driving NHPC’s financial direction in the coming years.
