Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh may soon emerge as a key destination for the Taiwan Electrical & Electronic Manufacturers’ Association’s (Teema) proposed technology park in India, with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) region being considered as a potential site, according to reports.
The facility would be part of Teema’s global manufacturing expansion plan, which spans the US, India, Mexico, and Poland.
The initiative is being led by Foxconn chairman Young Liu, who also heads Teema, and is aimed at building advanced manufacturing hubs that integrate artificial intelligence and adhere to environmental, social and governance (ESG) norms.
Reports indicate that the proposed technology park could be situated near Foxconn’s upcoming outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility in the Yeida region, thereby creating a clustered smart manufacturing ecosystem.
The project is being spearheaded by V Lee, former India head of Foxconn, and involves collaboration with Taiwanese engineering and construction firm CTCI. It seeks to strengthen the global competitiveness of Taiwanese electronics firms while supporting the overseas expansion of their supply chains.
Foxconn and Teema had announced the global technology park strategy in November, citing supply chain realignments and a growing push for localised manufacturing.
If finalised, the UP site would mark a significant diversification for Taiwanese manufacturers, whose India operations are largely concentrated in southern states.
