New Delhi, August 10(APAC Media): Indian students planning to study in Australia will now have a new digital option to verify their documents during the university admission process.
The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has partnered with the Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) to launch AAERI Verify. The platform was launched at the AAERI Annual Convention in New Delhi on August 7.
The new system connects AAERI Verify with DigiLocker, allowing students to share verified academic, identity and financial documents digitally with Australian universities. Students will need to give their consent before the documents are shared.
The new process will have two stages. The first verification will take place before a student submits a university application. A second check will be carried out after the student receives an admission offer to verify the financial details of the sponsor.
The system uses documents issued directly by authorised institutions through DigiLocker. This could reduce the need for students to submit physical copies and help universities check documents more easily.
For Indian students applying to Australian universities, document verification is an important part of the admission process. The new digital system is expected to make this process more organised by allowing institutions to check documents from their original issuing sources.
DigiLocker is a government-backed digital document platform under MeitY. It allows users to store, access and share documents issued by authorised organisations.
The partnership also expands the use of India’s digital public infrastructure into the overseas education sector, particularly for students applying to study in Australia.
