New Delhi, August 25(APAC Media): Sony has announced the Xperia 10 VIII, its latest mid-range smartphone, with a familiar design and only a handful of changes over the previous model.
The Sony Xperia 10 VIII retains a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Sony says the panel is now 50% brighter, while the front-facing stereo speakers are claimed to be 30% louder. The company has not disclosed the phone’s peak brightness figure.
Sony Xperia 10 VIII Specifications
The phone continues to use the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The biggest appeal for users looking for flexibility is the continued support for a microSD card, a feature that has become increasingly uncommon on modern smartphones.
Sony has also retained the 3.5mm headphone jack, giving users the option to connect wired headphones without an adapter.
The rear camera setup remains a dual-camera system, featuring a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The battery capacity also remains unchanged at 5,000mAh, with 30W charging support.
Android 16 And Software Updates
The Xperia 10 VIII will run Android 16 out of the box and will receive up to four major Android OS updates. This gives the phone a longer software support cycle than some older Xperia mid-range models.
Sony will sell the Xperia 10 VIII in Frozen White, Frosted Grey and Misty Lilac. The phone is expected to reach markets in mid to late September, with pricing listed at €599 in Europe and £549 in the UK.
At this price, the limited hardware changes compared with the previous Xperia 10 series model are likely to be one of the main points for buyers to consider. The microSD slot, headphone jack and longer software support remain the more notable features of the new Xperia 10 VIII.
