New Delhi, September 3(APAC Media): State Bank of India (SBI) will reduce the number of free ATM transactions available to Salary Package Account holders from October 1, 2026.
SBI ATM Transaction Limit
Salary Package Account holders currently get 10 free transactions every month when they use their SBI debit cards at other banks’ ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs). From October 1, the limit will be reduced to five transactions.
The five-transaction limit will include both financial and non-financial transactions. Cash withdrawals, balance enquiries and other eligible ATM services will therefore be counted together.
SBI ATM Charges After Free Limit
SBI is not increasing the existing charges after the free limit is exhausted. Cash withdrawals at other banks’ ATMs will continue to cost ₹23 plus GST per transaction, while non-financial transactions will attract ₹11 plus GST.
The key change is that customers will reach the chargeable limit sooner. For instance, a customer making eight transactions at other banks’ ATMs in a month could face charges on the transactions beyond the first five.
No Change At SBI ATMs
The revision applies specifically to Salary Package Account holders using SBI debit cards at other banks’ ATMs and ADWMs. SBI has said the free transaction limits and charges for other account categories will remain unchanged.
Transactions made at SBI’s own ATMs and ADWMs are also not affected by this revision. Cardless withdrawal facilities, including transactions through SBI’s cardless cash options, will continue to remain free and outside the monthly ATM transaction count until further notice.
The revised SBI ATM transaction limit will come into effect on October 1, 2026.
