New Delhi: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a sovereign cloud platform designed specifically for Indian government and public sector enterprises, with a focus on data localisation, regulatory compliance and AI integration.
The move reflects growing momentum in India’s push for digital self-reliance and secure infrastructure amid evolving data governance frameworks.
Indigenous Cloud for Government Use
Unveiled at the company’s ‘Accelerating India’ event in New Delhi, the TCS SovereignSecure Cloud is built to ensure that sensitive public sector data remains within the country’s borders. The cloud infrastructure will operate out of TCS-managed availability zones located in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
The offering is aligned with compliance requirements under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, which mandates localized data storage for certain categories of personal data. According to TCS, the cloud is designed on three foundational principles – sovereignty, security, and sustainability, with embedded AI features to support digital operations in critical sectors.
Broader Digital Infrastructure Rollout
Alongside the sovereign cloud, TCS also introduced two additional India-focused platforms:

TCS DigiBOLT – a low-code platform powered by AI, aimed at speeding up application development and digital transformation for enterprises.

Cyber Defence Suite – a cybersecurity solution already deployed globally, now being rolled out in India to enhance digital resilience.
These offerings are part of what TCS calls its long-term strategy to create tech solutions tailored to Indian regulatory and operational needs. The company said future rollouts will continue to prioritise data sovereignty and AI readiness for both public and private sector use.
Data Sovereignty and Strategic Tech Shift
Speaking at the event, Girish Ramachandran, President – Growth Markets, highlighted the importance of aligning digital solutions with India’s evolving governance frameworks. He emphasised that the convergence of data localisation, AI acceleration, and regulatory compliance is shaping the next phase of India’s digital economy.
The initiative also signals a growing focus within the Indian IT sector to build and deploy domestic digital infrastructure that can operate independently of foreign cloud providers, particularly in sensitive and regulated domains.
