Telangana reshuffles IAS officers. IAS Sarfaraz Ahmad gets Hyderabad Metro MD charge, N.V.S. Reddy named Urban Transport Advisor; key posts filled across departments.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced a significant reshuffle of senior officials, assigning new roles and additional responsibilities across key departments to strengthen urban governance and service delivery.

According to an order issued on 16 September by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Commissioner IAS Sarfaraz Ahmad, a 2009-batch officer,  has been given Full Additional Charge (FAC) as Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL).

He replaces IRAS N.V.S. Reddy, who has been appointed Advisor to the Telangana Government (Urban Transport) for a two-year term. Reddy, who retired from service on 30 June 2016, continued as HMRL MD through successive extensions until 30 June 2025, a practice at odds with the Congress government’s stated policy on post-retirement appointments.
