Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced a significant reshuffle of senior officials, assigning new roles and additional responsibilities across key departments to strengthen urban governance and service delivery.
According to an order issued on 16 September by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Commissioner IAS Sarfaraz Ahmad, a 2009-batch officer,  has been given Full Additional Charge (FAC) as Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL).
He replaces IRAS N.V.S. Reddy, who has been appointed Advisor to the Telangana Government (Urban Transport) for a two-year term. Reddy, who retired from service on 30 June 2016, continued as HMRL MD through successive extensions until 30 June 2025, a practice at odds with the Congress government’s stated policy on post-retirement appointments.
The reshuffle affects several other senior officers:
- IAS Shruti Ojha (2013 Batch), returning from study leave, has been posted as Director, Women and Child Development & Social Welfare (WCD&SC), relieving Srijana G. of the additional charge.
- IAS Krishna Aditya S. (2014 Batch), Director of Intermediate Education, now holds FAC as Secretary, Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS), replacing K. Seetha Lakshmi.
- IAS Kota Sreevatsa (2017 Batch) , currently Joint Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA, has been designated Joint Metropolitan Commissioner (General) and given FAC as Secretary, HMDA, following the transfer of R. Upender Reddy.
- M. Raji Reddy, Joint Registrar, Cooperative Department, who was serving as General Manager in the Civil Supplies Corporation, becomes Chief Rationing Officer, Hyderabad, relieving Zendage Hanumant Kondiba of additional charge.
- G. Jitender Reddy, CEO, Zilla Parishad Adilabad, has been appointed Managing Director, TG OILFED, succeeding J. Shankaraiah.
- Rajeshwar, SGDC, PD, Housing, Karimnagar, is now Additional Collector (Local Bodies), Adilabad.
- R. Upender Reddy, SGMC, takes over as Joint Metropolitan Commissioner (Sub-Urban Region), HMDA.
- T. Venkanna, SGMC awaiting posting, has been appointed Joint Metropolitan Commissioner (Core Urban Region and Metro Rail).
