New Delhi, Oct 16(APAC Media): Acronis has appointed Prakash Panjwani as its new chief executive officer, effective October 15, 2026. He replaces Jan-Jaap “JJ” Jager, who will remain a shareholder in the company.
The leadership change comes as Acronis looks to expand its AI-based cybersecurity and data protection business. The Switzerland-based company provides an integrated cyber protection platform for managed service providers (MSPs) and IT departments.
Prakash Panjwani’s Cybersecurity Experience
Panjwani previously led WatchGuard Technologies and SafeNet as CEO. During his decade at WatchGuard, he helped expand the company beyond firewall products into a broader cybersecurity platform offering endpoint detection and response (EDR), extended detection and response (XDR) and managed detection and response (MDR).
His experience in cybersecurity products, partner-led sales and business expansion will be relevant as Acronis continues to develop its platform for managed service providers.
Acronis Targets AI-Based Cyber Protection
Acronis aims to bring cybersecurity, data protection, IT infrastructure management and service automation together through a single platform. Its focus on managed service providers gives the company a route to serve businesses that rely on external IT teams for security and technology management.
Panjwani said he plans to build on the existing platform, accelerate innovation and deliver more value to partners. He also highlighted the role of AI-based automation in simplifying cybersecurity operations and reducing service delivery costs.
Acronis has not announced any specific changes to its product roadmap following the appointment. Jager will remain a shareholder as Panjwani takes charge of the company’s next phase of growth.
