New Delhi, Oct 17(APAC Media): Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo costs ₹2,99,900 in India. Before spending nearly ₹3 lakh, buyers should consider five key factors that could affect their everyday experience and the total cost of ownership.
The iPhone Duo costs ₹1.2 lakh more than the iPhone 18 Pro Max, which starts at ₹1,79,900. Its folding design provides a larger display for watching videos, gaming and multitasking. However, buyers who mainly need a conventional smartphone may find the Pro Max a more affordable option.
The camera setup is another consideration. The iPhone Duo has two 48MP rear cameras, comprising a main camera and an ultra-wide camera. It lacks a dedicated telephoto lens, which could limit flexibility when photographing distant subjects. Its main camera supports optical-quality 2x zoom.
Apple has also opted for Touch ID instead of Face ID. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button. The phone uses eSIM connectivity, so buyers should check whether their mobile operator supports the service.
At around 254 grams, the iPhone Duo is heavier than the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Its reported video playback time is also lower than that of the Pro Max, making battery performance worth considering before purchase.
Repair costs could further increase the expense. Estimates suggest an out-of-warranty inner-screen replacement could cost around $999 in the US, with Indian costs potentially exceeding ₹1 lakh. These figures are not confirmed Indian service prices, so buyers should check Apple’s official repair charges and AppleCare+ coverage.
The iPhone Duo may suit users who want a foldable phone within Apple’s ecosystem. However, those prioritising camera versatility, battery life and value should compare it with the iPhone 18 Pro Max before making a decision.
