Kolkata: A total of six new Vice Chancellors (VCs) are set to assume office in West Bengal today.
In early October, Ashutosh Ghosh of Calcutta University and Chiranjib Bhattacharya of Jadavpur University were appointed as the new VCs of their respective institutions. The other new appointees include Ashis Bhattacharya at Gour Banga University, Uday Bandyopadhyay at Kazi Nazrul University, Chandradipa Ghosh at Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University and Abu Taleb at Biswa Bangla University.
Ghosh had earlier served as Calcutta University’s interim VC in 2017.
Chiranjib is a former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University and is currently the President of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.
Jadavpur has been without an officiating VC since March. The other universities have been functioning under officiating VCs.
