Noida, Oct 30 (APAC Media): Reliance Industries on Friday reported a 27.17 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 29,250 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared with Rs 23,001 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
The company’s revenue from operations also registered a 27.76 per cent year-on-year increase to Rs 362,268 crore in the second quarter of FY27, against Rs 283,548 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26.
Reliance Industries’ EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) rose 19.55 per cent year-on-year to Rs 61,409 crore in the second quarter of FY27, compared with Rs 51,367 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26.
Depreciation expenses increased 6.2 per cent year-on-year to Rs 15,315 crore, primarily due to higher depreciation in the Digital Services segment following the capitalisation of 5G assets.
Finance costs rose 24.2 per cent to Rs 8,481 crore, largely on account of higher liability balances and the capitalisation of 5G assets. Tax expenses also increased 34.2 per cent year-on-year to Rs 9,363 crore.
Profit after tax, including the share of profit or loss from associates and joint ventures, grew 33.8 per cent year-on-year to Rs 29,550 crore.
The company’s capital expenditure stood at Rs 38,153 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The spending was primarily driven by investments in ongoing Oil-to-Chemicals (O2C) and New Energy projects, along with efforts to strengthen and expand infrastructure and distribution networks across its consumer businesses.
“This week marked a historic moment in Reliance’s value creation journey with Jio’s record-setting listing on Indian bourses. With over 22x subscription and strong listing appreciation, the issue has set multiple global benchmarks. JPL is now India’s second largest company. It demonstrates the depth of confidence investors place in Jio’s solid foundation and strong growth visibility. I am proud to witness the rejuvenation of “the equity cult” originally pioneered by our founder-chairman during the 1977 Reliance IPO,” said, Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited.
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) reported a 27.8 per cent year-on-year increase in gross revenue to Rs 362,268 crore in the second quarter of FY27, driven by strong growth in its Oil-to-Chemicals (O2C) business and continued expansion in digital services.
According to the company’s financial results, Jio Platforms Ltd (JPL) recorded an 11.3 per cent growth in revenue, supported by continued subscriber additions, higher average revenue per user (ARPU) and healthy growth in digital services.
“Our O2C business delivered a particularly strong performance this quarter. Our ability to optimise feedstock sourcing and product placement, along with operations across the value chain, enabled us to improve margin capture,” Mukesh added.
Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) reported a 6.4 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue to Rs 91,716 crore.
However, performance was impacted by a shift in the festive calendar, with the festive season falling in the third quarter this year.
The O2C segment registered a sharp 44.2 per cent increase in revenue, primarily driven by a steep rise in crude oil and refined product prices.
Crude prices rose 40.6 per cent year-on-year during the quarter, while transportation fuel prices increased by 50-78 per cent. Prices of most downstream chemical products also gained 25-35 per cent, supported by higher feedstock costs.
Revenue from the Oil and Gas segment remained largely unchanged during the quarter, as lower gas production from the KG-D6 block and weaker price realisation were offset by higher condensate realisation. Improved production volumes and better price realisation in coal-bed methane (CBM) operations also contributed to supporting the segment’s revenue.
On the operating front, consolidated EBITDA increased 23.9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 62,409 crore.
JPL’s EBITDA grew 16.6 per cent, supported by strong revenue growth and a 250-basis-point expansion in margins.
In contrast, RRVL’s EBITDA declined 8.6 per cent to Rs 6,228 crore, while its EBITDA margin contracted 120 basis points to 7.8 per cent.
The company attributed the performance to planned investments in digital commerce, absorption of input-cost inflation to support customers and the shift in the festive calendar to the third quarter.
The O2C business reported a 67.9 per cent jump in EBITDA, aided by a sharp improvement in transportation fuel costs and downstream petrochemical margins. Transportation fuel cracks increased three to 3.7 times amid tight global refining conditions.
Margins across the polyester chain improved 33 per cent, supported by a 15 per cent increase in paraxylene (PX) delta and a 52 per cent rise in purified terephthalic acid (PTA) delta.
However, earnings in the segment were partly constrained by higher crude oil premiums, elevated freight costs, Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED)-related expenses and under-recoveries in domestic fuel retail.
EBITDA from the oil and gas segment declined 2 per cent year-on-year, primarily due to lower revenues from KG-D6 gas production and higher government levies.
Favourable exchange rate movements provided partial support.
