New Delhi: The clamour for the postponement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to undergraduate medical courses is growing louder. The student community wants the exam to be postponement due to lack of clarity on several fronts including registration. The NEET was scheduled to be conducted on August 1. Students demand the National Testing Agency (NTA) to update on NEET 2021.
Recently, the union government held a high-level meeting in which the CBSE Class 12 board exam 2021 was discussed and the government is expected to take a decision on June 1 but no decision was taken on NEET 2021. The states were told to submit their suggestions on conducting the Class 12 exam. A decision on NEET is expected to be taken after June 1. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Sunday asked states to send suggestions on 12th board exams and said a decision will be taken at the earliest.
If the COVID-19 situation does not improve and if there is postponement of Class 12 board exams, it is highly likely that the NTA will postpone NEET 2021. Along with the released NTA notification on exam date, authorities have stated that the NEET application form 2021 will be available shortly on the official website – ntaneet.nic.in or nta.ac.in, however, it has not been available yet.
