Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Kanpur is introducing two new courses. One is a four-year Bachelor of Science BS and a 5-year Bachelor of Science- Master of Science (BS-MS).
Both the degree programs will be offered from 2021-22 sessions by its mathematics and statistics department.
Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal took his Twitter account to announce the information of two new courses in the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
” IIT Kanpur has announced two new degree programs in statistics and data science to be offered from 2021-22 session by its department of mathematics and statistics,” reads the tweet.
The admissions to the program will be through a joint entrance examination, JEE advanced.
Director of IIT Kanpur, Prof. Abhay Karandikar says, “Students undergoing the BS and BS-MS programs in Statistics and Data Science will be exposed to various types of structured and unstructured data with applications in solving real-world problems. This would include data related to health, biomedicine, bioinformatics, and digital health, retail, banking, and financial data; image processing data; seismological data; social media and social network analysis; energy sector, transportation, agriculture etc.”
