New Delhi: COVID-19 vaccination certificate, which earlier had to be downloaded through CoWIN, Aarogya Setu, Umang or DigiLocker, can now be availed through a simple process on WhatsApp. Mansukh Mandaviya, the newly appointed Minister of Health, has announced a new facility wherein citizens can access their COVID-19 vaccination certificate by simply sending a message on WhatsApp through their phone numbers that are registered with CoWIN.
“Revolutionising common man’s life using technology! Now get COVID-19 vaccination certificate through MyGov Corona Helpdesk in 3 easy steps,” tweeted the minister. As of today, nearly 50 crore citizens in India have availed the COVID-19 vaccine and over 8.2 percent of the population is fully vaccinated. All citizens are being registered on the CoWIN platform to keep a track of the vaccinations in India, and also to help deliver vaccination certificates.
How to Download COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate from WhatsApp
For this process to be successful, citizens will have to ensure that they use the same numbers that is registered with the CoWIN platform for vaccination:
Users will first have to save the contact number +91 9013151515, which is the MyGov Corona helpdesk number, on their mobile phones.
Citizens will then have to type and send ‘covid certificate’ on WhatsApp.
They will then receive a message that says generating an OTP for the number 9XXXXXXXXXX.
Citizens will then receive an OTP from CoWIN, which will have to be entered in the WhatsApp chat box within 30 seconds.
A message that says “We’re confirming your OTP, this may take up to 30 seconds.”
After that, users will be given the names of the members registered with the number, and they will be asked to Type 1-4 to select a member for downloading Cowin Certificate.
The COVID-19 vaccination certificate will then be sent in PDF format.
