New Delhi: The policy on issuance and renewal of no objection certificate (NOC) for sale or rent of international roaming SIM cards and global calling cards of foreign operators in India has been revised by the telecom department.
The revised policy mandates NOC holders to make provision for providing information regarding customer care service, contact details, escalation matrix, itemized bills, information related to tariff plans as well as services offered.
The revised policy aims to protect the interest of Indians traveling abroad and also streamline the procedures in line with the other licenses and registrations, the telecom ministry said in a statement.
Provision has also been made to strengthen billing and consumer grievance redressal mechanisms to facilitate time bound resolution of grievances by the NOC holders with provision for appellate authority in the department.
The revised policy came into effect from January 14, 2022 and it was formulated after deliberations on the suo-motu recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on sale or rent of international roaming SIM cards, global calling cards of foreign operators in India.
