IIT Patna Invites Applications for 8-week Free Online Course on IoT and Machine Learning

IIT Patna has invited applications for a free online course called “Foundation of Cloud IoT and Edge Machine Learning”.  The course can be covered in 8 weeks, and will cover Internet of Things, Machine Learning and Cloud for various emerging computing paradigms of edge computing. The course will be available on the SWAYAM NPTEL platform from 20 February to 14 April 2023, and the last date to enrol for the course would be 20 February 2023.

The course will be conducted by Dr Rajiv Misra who is a professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Patna. He obtained his PhD degree from IIT Kharagpur, MTech degree in computer science and engineering from the IIT Bombay, and Bachelor’s of engineering degree in computer science from MNIT Allahabad. Those who pay Rs 1000, and take an examination and complete assignments will also receive an e-certificate with logos of IIT Patna and NPTEL.

List of Topics That Will Be Covered Under the IIT Patna Free Online Course

The course basically provides an understanding of terminologies and the core concepts behind cloud-IoT-edge problems, applications, systems and the techniques, that underlie today’s cutting-edge technologies, says the NPTEL platform. Some of the topics that will be covered as part of the course:

• Introduction to cloud, internet of things (IoT), and edge computing paradigms.
• Integrating cloud, IoT, edge infrastructures: system Modeling and Research Challenges in federating edge resources.
• Management and orchestration of network slices in 5G, edge, and clouds.
• Introduction to lightweight container middleware for edge cloud architectures.
• Data management and predictive analysis to support edge application deployment, and other such topics.

Who Can Take the IIT Patna Free Online Course?

Those who wish to take the course will need to have knowledge on the basics of computer architecture and organisation, and networking. The course, although is open to anyone who wants to learn about the technology, would be most suited for undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing their degrees in the following domains:
