Meta Blue Tick Launched

New Delhi: Meta blue tick has been launched, and will soon be rolled out across geographies. Earlier, Meta used to identify accounts with a blue tick only if they had a substantial number of followers and were verified institutions or celebrities. Post this announcement, users who are interested to get the Meta blue tick will have to pay a monthly amount and get their accounts verified. The subscription bundle will be available on both Instagram and Facebook.

Those who opt for this service will be given a verified badge that authenticates the user’s account with government ID, proactive account protection, access to account support, and increased visibility and reach. Meta says that this feature is being rolled out as they were receiving several requests from the creator community on increasing their reach. Some of the benefits that verified accounts are given are as follows:

• Help when verified accounts need it with access to a real person for common account issues.

Who Can Apply for the Meta Blue Tick Feature?

Although the feature is being rolled out for all users, there are certain norms that users will have to meet in order tp be eligible for the Meta blue tick feature:

• Prior posting history of users will be taken into account, and users will have to be at least 18 years old.
• Applicants are then required to submit a government ID that matches the profile name and photo of the Facebook or Instagram account they are applying for.
• Subscriptions will include proactive monitoring for account impersonation.

While there is no word yet on when the feature will be launched in India as of now, the feature will be made available this week in Australia and New Zealand. Those interested can purchase this feature for $11.99 on the web and $14.99 on iOS and Android in US dollars. This would mean that it would cost users around Rs 990 in India for the web, and Rs 1245 for iOS and Android users on mobile phones.
