Guwahati: People living in Kamrup (Metro) district will not need to physically visit the deputy commissioner’s office from now onwards to submit any petition or prayer for any service as all branches of the office will operate on e-office mode from Tuesday.
The step has been initiated to provide the services in a hassle-free manner. The district administration has asked the people and all stakeholders to make it convenient to send their petitions, prayers of different service-related requests in digital format to the dedicated e-mail id.
The district information officer of the district and his team will be the custodian of e-mail ID designated for the public and stakeholder for digital submission of their petitions in digital format. “The team will download all the digital submissions on hourly basis and send those to the respective branches and amalgamated establishments in their respective e-mail without fail and in an uninterrupted manner,” the order issued by the DC Pallav Gopal Jha stated. However, matters related to court case, departmental proceedings, confidential matters and election office have been exempted from the e-filing system.
As per the order, all branches and amalgamated establishment of the DC office of the district will have their respective e-mail and one branch nodal staff from among the senior and junior assistants and one National Informatics Centre (NIC) staff to receive respective digital submissions of the public and stakeholder forwarded by the district information officer to their respective e-mail and generate it to their own respective branch and amalgamated establishment for e-office process.
Nodal staff for the purpose of receiving digital petitions will also be designated in the revenue circles, who will also follow the same e-filing procedure.
The Assam government, in October 2021, had launched ‘Assam Right to Public Services’ portal through which people can avail benefits of 47 different services just sitting at home. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had said the online services would empower the people to apply and avail public services from the comfort of their homes or public facilitation centres.
