Mumbai: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has issued Letters of Intent (LoI) to Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) and Adani Power Limited for the supply of 6600 MW of power. The deal includes 5000 MW of solar energy from AGEL and 1600 MW of thermal power from Adani Power.
Under the agreement, AGEL will deliver solar power from its upcoming 5 GW facility at Khavda, Gujarat, while Adani Power will supply thermal energy from a 1600 MW project. Both companies will sign long-term contracts with MSEDCL for this capacity.
The contracts were awarded through a competitive bidding process, allowing Adani Power to submit joint bids for both thermal and solar capacities on behalf of its group company AGEL. This arrangement aligns with the companies’ focus on integrating thermal and renewable energy solutions.
AGEL’s 5 GW solar award is one of the largest since 2020, reinforcing its position in India’s renewable energy sector. The thermal power contract awarded to Adani Power is also one of the largest in recent years to the private sector. Both projects are set to enhance Maharashtra’s energy mix.
