New Delhi: Germany plans to raise its annual skilled labor visas for Indian professionals from 20,000 to 90,000 due to a growing worker shortage.
Facing 570,000 unfilled jobs, especially in IT, nursing, and caregiving, Germany is looking abroad to fill critical roles. The country’s economy has been struggling with these gaps, which have slowed down growth in several industries.
India, with its strong pool of skilled workers in IT and healthcare, is a key focus for Germany’s recruitment efforts. The increase in visa numbers also comes as part of broader cooperation between the two countries, with both seeing benefits in economic and technological collaboration.
This step follows similar moves by other countries like Japan, which are also turning to Indian talent to fill their labor shortages.
